“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:3-4
Having a genuine interest or concern for others is something that is uncommon nowadays. Many people, especially those in the city, tend to live fast paced lives. Sometimes this lifestyle keeps many so busy – too busy to even consider other people around.
How do you treat the people around you? Are you showing a genuine concern for them or do you tend to just engage them? Ask God to give you a heart of compassion for the people around you.
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.†1 Corinthians 15:55-57
Lately, we have been hearing of people we know, people close to us, diagnosed with cancer – a disease that health plans won’t cover. It is sad to hear news like these and even sadder for their family. A disease that usually shortens lives, reminding us how short life is. We will all eventually face death. It’s just a matter of when we will face it.
But a comfort for us as believers is that we are victorious over death through Christ’s resurrection. And as Peter says, we have a “living hope†in Him!
For many people with regular jobs, during financial emergencies, one of their options is applying for Pay Day Loans. Sometimes they even try borrowing from friends. This is not entirely wrong but is this the best option available for people with regular jobs? Are there other options?
Well, how about considering planning for these emergencies and saving up for them. This is a wise thing to do especially for young professionals who usually tend to be extravagant especially if the money they earn is all at their disposal. With their being single not giving them added financial responsibilities, their tendency to splurge is strong. But isn’t this age level the best time to practice good financial management? Think about it.
Habakkuk 3:17-18 “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”
Rejoicing in the Lord and giving Him praise is never dependent upon the circumstances around us. The prophet Habakkuk hoped in th Lord and had faith on God’s faithfulness and mercy despite the years of suffering experienced by the people of Israel. He did not just endure the hardships but willed to rejoice in the Lord and willed to be joyful in Him.
Are there circumstances in your life right now that rob the joy in your life? Don’t just endure but rejoice and be joyful in Him – God will deliver you. Remember, He has delivered you from your greatest problem and has promised you eternal life!

I remember many years ago, when the church had the church auditorium or the worship are renovated, it was great to have a skilled worker who worked for the church to do the renovations. Otherwise the other option would have been to find a contractor who will do the job, like what most people would do.
In my own experience, it is not easy to find the right contractor. When we were looking for a contractor for our house, we experienced not getting what we entirely wanted because the contractor we talked to had a know-it-all attitude. And we thought all along that, since the contractor was referred to us by a relative, that they would already be the best choice. And, we were wrong because we found a better one.
Home owners can save themselves the hassle of looking for contractors for their home improvement projects. ServiceSpider.com is a web site that is all about that. They are a melting pot for homeowners and local contractors and they offer this service for free. Their web site is so easy to use that at a single glance, you can figure out how the two groups of people come together. At the left sidebar of the site is a list of service requests from homeowners and at the right sidebar is a list of service providers that you can choose from.
If you have a plan to renovate or a have a home improvement project you can visit the site and post them on this web site. The bonus is the
first 100 people to post a project on ServiceSpider will receive a $25 gas card and the first 10 people to complete a project will receive a $100 home improvement gift card. So go and visit this site now.

If we could at all sum things up, in the long run, it is really more practical to own a lot rather than renting. Do the math and you will find that it is actually cheaper to be an owner. Come to think of it, t is also one way of being good stewards of whatever wealth is given us.
