Verse for the Day: 10/17/08

1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” NKJV

Being a pastor now and having been a youth pastor before, hearing confessions of church volunteers or discovering some sins being tolerated by individuals are common. Many times, these sins so big that necessary church discipline needs to be applied and some counseling provided to restore the fallen. During counseling sessions, especially when the sin is so grave, I usually tell those I counsel that people don’t fall into sin in an instant. It usually starts in small compromises, small tolerated sins that provide a foothold for the devil who is waiting for a Christian to make a small mistake and for a moment when he can take advantage. That’s why we are reminded to always be vigilant because we are on target as lay leaders or full-time ministers. May I suggest that you surround your church leaders and ministry volunteers with prayers. If you have a moment, why not do it now, even for just a few seconds or minutes.
