Colossians 1:15-17 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him.”
In this passage, we learn that Jesus is being referred to by Paul as being active during creation. When I was a young believer, I thought and heard from skeptics of Jesus’ deity that Jesus existed only when He was born. But I learned that there are many Old Testament passages that imply the presence of Jesus. This passage in Colossians solidifies Jesus’ presence and points out that Jesus was already existent even before creation.
Many cults in the Philippines who believe in the Bible but do not believe in Jesus’ deity often use this passage to say that Jesus is just an “image of the invisible God” without fully looking at the context of the passage that Jesus was active in creation – as active as God the Father was. This is actually a strong supplement to Jesus’ deity if it is interpreted in its context.
Jesus is 100% man but He is 100% God!

Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
When in a battle it is important to have the right equipment and have the right gear. One must know how to use the equipment, weapons and must be comfortable with the armor or clothing being worn, almost as comfortable as 5.11 Tactical clothing. Otherwise, engaging in battle produce defeat even if we know the Christ has already won the war.
In the daily battles of life, we must put on the full armor of God and make sure we know how to carry each part of the armor. We must know how to wield the sword which is God’s word. The breastplate of righteousness must be worn fit and comfortably without any hypocrisy. How is God’s armor on you? Have you checked each part lately?
1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. “
Being grateful for everything that happens to us, whether good or bad, is what God wants. It doesn’t mean that when bad things happen that we enjoy the evil but it simply means to have a trusting heart knowing that God is in control. Some evil may be allowed to happen in our life but it doesn’t mean that God wants it, but for our greater good, since He knows what’s best and He is in control, He allows such things. And we need to learn to find a spirit of gratefulness even during tough times.

Huge structures and steel buildings need a good foundation to stay erect. This is what many engineers have studied and this has become a given in any construction. If you don’t have a solid and big enough foundation, the structure will fall.
God’s word is our solid foundation. Many people believe that truth is relative, but that is like having a foundations that is changing and shifting, like sand. Those who have that kind of foundation will eventually experience downfall in their lives. Put your foundation in something that is absolute and solid – God’s word.

Joshua 24:15 “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua was a man of will. During the time when the Israelites sent spies to scout the land that God wanted for the Israelites to claim, He was one of the only two who chose to believe in God. And He was rewarded by God by letting Him lead the Israelites in claiming the promised land.
He served God no matter what the circumstances were. He did not give any excuse but willed to do the right thing no matter what.
How about you? Have you been making excuses to God? Or will you choose to do the right thing?

Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
God created us to give glory to Him – to bring a smile on His face. And whatever we do that brings a smile on His face is called worship. Worship is not just limited to what we do in church or isn’t just about any activity involving religion. Worship is a lifestyle. Anything we do can either bring glory to the Father or not. So choose your actions, motives, thoughts and words well, making sure that they give glory to God today.
