The match of Pacquiao against De La Hoya is coming up soon and las vegas suites are probably fully booked for that event. As always, the live match would foall on Sunday morning here in Manila and many Christians and pastors in churches won’t be able to watch the match live.
As exciting as this may sound, I hope that no one would choose being in God’s presence with other believers over the boxing match that day. That is an important day for Filipinos like you and me but there are other more important things than that. And it’s all worth it!

The Christmas holiday season is fast approaching and roads, malls and other shopping venues are becoming busier with people buying toys, clothes and other stuff to give for Christmas. But, let us not be distracted by these things this season. Let us focus on the reason for the season and that is no other than Jesus Christ, God’s gift to mankind.

1 John 5:11-13 “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
An eye-witness of Jesus, John, says it clearly that a person can know if he or she has eternal life or not. A person can know if he or she is going to heaven or not when death arrives. And he clarifies further that the person who has Jesus has eternal life but a person who does not have Jesus Christ does not have eternal life. It’s clear cut. Now, the question is, do you have eternal life or not? Remember, you can know it.

John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
Jsesus’ claim in this passage is very strong. It is like saying that all others are wrong and He is right. And He is. And the many of the Israelites during His time got angry at Him for that and crucified Him. The religious leaders tagged Him as blasphemous. But Jesus never explained or argued with them, because He didn’t have to. He was God.
Being right naturally offends others in the wrong, especially those who want to remain in their wrong ways. So do not be surprised if people persecute you because our Master was also. But, you do not have to fight back because they are spiritually blinded. Just pray for them, that God would open their spiritual eyes and remove the blindness so that they may start to see the truth.
