Verses for the Daily Battle

Posted on November 8th, 2008 by Pastor Jeff in Daily Living

Below is a list of a few scriptures that can be uses to repeat to yourself when becoming weak-kneed in the daily battle.

1 Corinthians 16:13 “3 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.”

Jeremiah 15:16a “When Your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight…”

Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Exodus 14:13-14 “Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”"

I hope that these passage minister to you today. Be strong in the Lord!

The Right Thing At the Wrong Time Is the Wrong Thing

For singles and young people, we encourage them to know their priorities. Having a relationship with the opposite sex is natural but as a book I read on relationships said, “The right thing at the wrong time is the wrong thing.”

The trend nowadays is to seek relationships wherever possible. There are people who even turn to internet dating sites. A web site that those who engage in internet dating can check out is theinternetdatingguide.com. They provide a list of links for all kinds of relationships, but we encourage our eligible singles to try their Christian dating links. They can find internet dating tips in these kinds of web sites.

But, again, you should know when to get into a relationship before checking out dating profiles and know the right boundaries as set by the Bible.

Passage of the Day: 11/07/08

Hebrews 10:19-22a “9 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith…”

In the Old Testament, only the high priest was allowed to enter the Most Holy Place in the temple. Between the outer section and the Most Holy Place was a curtain to keep just anyone from entering this sacred part of the temple.

In Matthew 27:50-51, it says, “And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up His spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split.”

When Jesus shed His blood on the cross the curtain was torn, like the body of Christ when He sacrificed Himself for our sin, which signifies that the access to the Most Holy Place, the presence of God is now open, but all through Jesus.

The passage in Hebrews, mentioned above, encourages us who have put their trust in Christ to “draw near to God”. We can come to God as we are, without any pretensions, knowing that whatever we have done, God loves and has proven this through Jesus’ sacrifice.

So, let us not think that we have to be good enough to come to God, because we aren’t. That’s why God made a way by sending Jesus to pay for our sins so we can come into His presence.

Verse of the Day: 11/06/08

Posted on November 6th, 2008 by Pastor Jeff in Daily Living, Prayer

Romans 13:1 “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.”

Today, as I listened to Senator John McCain’s concession speech, I was encouraged to hear how he urged his supporters to not just congratulate the new elected President of the United States, Senator Obama, but to also support him.

As a McCain supporter, even though I am not an American, I was moved by his speech and the Lord impressed this verse to me as I listened to the speech.

Let us just pray for the United States, its new president and hope for the best.

Isaiah 40

I love this great chapter, because it starts out with how big God is, how awesome and how glorious He is.  It starts out talking about how small we are compared to His greatness and His power.

But at the end of the chapter it shifts to talk about how personal God can be to each and everyone of us.  This chapter sure gives me hope when I am feeling small or powerless.
