Sometimes, even the best diet pills are not enough to get an obese person fit. The same principle is true in our spiritual lives. When we aren’t spiritually fit, like when we don’t balance feeding from God’s word and exercising it, there are no shortcuts to living out what we believe. It takes discipline and consistency in training ourselves. Let us be encouraged to make the decision to practice what we believe moment by moment. That consistency will eventually be seen and we will find ourselves becoming a person of integrity.
Galatians 6:7 “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”
Believing and applying the principle of sowing and reaping can be helpful enough to make a person fear the consequences of wrong actions. But maturity is seen in a person who is not just motivated to obey because of the fear of the consequences but is motivated by a right fear of God. The one that is careful not to bring displeasure because he loves his God aside from the knowledge that God will hold as all accountabe someday.

Sleep early so you won’t be late for the church service. Remember, you have an appointment with the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

Last Saturday, January 17, 2009, JIVE (Jesus Inspired, Valuing Eternity) Youth celebrated their fifth anniversary. Their first youth service was held January 18, 2004 and that service was a follow up program to an Breaking Point outreach program at Fort Bonifacio High School. Many of the youth who committed themselves to Christ in the past five years shared testimonies live and on video. They shared the difference that Christ has made in their lives and how JIVE Youth Ministry has helped them grow in their faith in Christ. A lot of them are now serving in the church (SBC Makati) and last Saturday’s anniversary program was initiated by the the team from JIVE. Congratulations, JIVE!
