The experience that David gained during his shepherding days led him to run rings around Goliath when they faced each other. It was his competence that God used to give him the victory in that battle. But David never depended on his skills when he faced the giant but showed humility and depended upon God alone. He did everything for God and gave credit to God when he won the battle.
As leaders, let us not depend on our own skills and capabilities. Let us not magnify our own efforts but let us always be dependent upon God by spending more time in prayer. Remember, the battle is the Lord’s!

1 Peter 1:6-7 “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”
This passage was originally written by the apostle Peter to believers in Asia who were suffering persecution. So when he mentioned the words “suffer grief in all kinds of trials”, the kind of suffering and trials he was talking about was something that involved life and death for many of the believers. The persecution of the Christians during the time of the Roman empire was so grave that Paul had to write the believers and encourage them.
The encouragement of Paul in this passage may also be useful for us who are suffering even in a slightly easier situation. And if the situation is as grave as the life and death situation that the believers Peter addressed were in, then this passage is all the more applicable.
May our faith be proven genuine and result in the praise, glory and honor of Christ!

Have you been feeling depressed lately? Is life feeling like you are just running daily on treadmills, just going round and round and without end?
Maybe your life has lost its purpose. You see your purpose is directly proportional to your motivation in life. Without a purpose, there is no reason for you to get up in the morning. Find the purpose for your life and get the motivation you need.
