Peeking Through Someone’s Soul

If you would notice, every time you great someone or ask them how they are, probably most will answer these two-letter word-“ok” [okay]. Well, are they really? In a cell group, what usually happens after the “ok”? Do you move on and try to keep up on the program-like schedule or do you dig deeper, encourage the person to let their feelings out? Have you ever looked straight in the person’s eyes while they talk or are you the one who munches over the snacks, send text messages, or keeps looking at the clock wondering how long will he/she keeps on talking?

As a minister, God requires each one to be available for everyone in need. To extend to people in your circulation His love, and that includes listening. Hearing and listening are two different things. You may hear what he is saying but you are preoccupied with other things. That is not listening. Listening is when you stop on whatever it is you are doing, look into your friend’s eyes, chew her words bit by bit and try to understand and read between the lines. You will see that behind that beautiful gaze, hiding under eyelash growth products, is a weak friend who needs God’s love through you.
