If you were on a mission to lose weight, which would you choose? Fasting or Fastin? Fasting is like dieting but it is more associated with religious activity. It is usually partnered with prayer times. Fastin, on the other hand, is a diet pill and it accomplish the same physical result of fasting. But the two are very much different even though they mas sound alike. The former is focused on spiritual matters while the latter is focused on the physical. So if you are choosing from both, clarify first what your objectives are. Is it spiritual or purely physical?

We were not on sale when Jesus Christ redeemed us! In fact, Jesus paid a very high price for us. 1 Peter 1: 18-19 says, “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” Yes! His blood was precious and He shed it for us. Let us meditate on this truth this Holy Week.

In the Old Testament, the Israelites regularly sacrificed a lamb or an animal without blemish or defect to receive cleansing for their sins. The shedding of the blood of the animal serves as payment for the sins.
When Jesus came, He was called “the Lamb of God” by John the Baptist. It was because He was to be the sacrificial lamb to pay for mankind’s sin. And He did. His blood was shed for our sins. He lived without sin, like a lamb without blemish or defect, and became the only acceptable sacrifice for man’s sin.
May these be in our thoughts as we reflect during this Holy Week. Take time to thank God for the sacrificial lamb.

George Adam Smith tells us that he was once climbing the Weisshorn above the Zermatt Valley in Switzerland with two guides on a stormy day. They had made the ascent on the sheltered side. Reaching the top, and exhilarated by the thought of the view before him, Smith sprang to the top of a peak – and was almost blown away by the gale. The guide caught hold of him and pulled him down saying, “On your knees, sir! You are safe here only on your knees.”

Summer is in the air again and you do know what comes with summer, don’t you? Well, of course, vacation, but for youth ministries like Sold Out Live summer camp is what most young people look forward to.
Planning for the upcoming summer youth camp for 2009 is on going as organizers have secured Mt. Peniel at Capas, Tarlac as this year’s summer camp venue. As we are targeting 600-800 campers per week for two weeks of camp, some of the things we always prepare for the group games. When we plan this for the camp we are talking about 100-150 people per group and four groups playing at the same time at different locations. So the usual icebreaker games really don’t apply but some game principles can be taken and adjusted according to what is required.
Another thing being planned is the program and music. We are glad that we have people who are committed to researching and squeezing out ideas from anywhere with regards to drama and stage presentations. Promotions are also given top priority as posters, the promotional video and the theme is finalized for the great push of promotions for this year’s camp.
We ask every young person to please begin praying for the youth camp as early as now. We know how we are very capable of organizing this event but we want to put our dependence on God as we know that everything is a spiritual battle. Pray that lives will be changed and many would be claim thethe promise of eternal life that God has promised to all of us.

Please pray for our church, SBC Makati, as we are, right now, in the process of renegotiation with the owner of our present rented place. We are open to getting moving trucks ready if we find a place, but so far, the place we are looking for has not been found yet. O we are also open to staying at our current location, if the price is right. We would really appreciate your prayers.
Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
This is a promise that we can claim from God. He assures as that if we sincerely ask, seek and knock we will find what we are looking for. Jesus uses encourages these three actions to show us that whatever we need, God is willing to satisfy that need according to His will. He is not a selfish God and because He loves us, He gives to those who truly seeks Him with all their hearts.
